Editorial standards
How we report
The rules our journalists follow, published so you can hold us to them.
Accuracy
Every fact in a Pressio story is checked by a second person before publication. Numbers are traced to their original source, not to another news report.
When a story relies on a single anonymous source, an editor must know the source’s identity and agree that the information cannot be obtained any other way.
Independence
Pressio has no owner who can influence coverage. Advertisers and sponsors have no say in what we report.
Journalists may not accept gifts worth more than $25, paid travel or speaking fees from organisations they cover.
Opinion and analysis
Opinion pieces are clearly labelled and reflect the views of their authors. Analysis pieces explain the news using reporting and evidence, and are labelled as such.
Sponsored content
Paid content is always labelled “Paid content” and names the sponsor. It is written by a separate team and never by Pressio’s journalists.
Artificial intelligence
We do not publish text, images or audio generated by AI without disclosure. Journalists may use AI tools for transcription and research, but every fact is verified by a person.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and openly. Corrections are added to the article and listed on our Corrections page.
